Liguria - Genova Nervi Chic and rural
A charming Riviera oasis in front of Portofino promontory

Nervi - Genoa - Ligury - Italy

On the right bank of the Liguria Riviera, a costal strip stretches to reach Nervi. Nervi is surrounded by a unique landscape which spans the horizon, creating a beautiful view of the Portofino headland. Nervi lies at the farther east part of Genoa, which you reach just before the beauty of the Liguria Riviera (East).

In a 5-minute walk, you reach the seafront: 3km of walk by the scogli (sea-side rocks), strolling across historical parks and gazing over the sparkling blue sea. Close by you will also find the rail station, from which you can easily access:

-
Porta Principe e Porto antico (Acquario di Genova – Genoa’s aquarium) in 12 minutes
- To
Genoa’s city centre in 12 minutes
- To
Camogli in 15 minutes
- To
Santa Margherita Ligure e Portofino in 20 minutes
- To the spectacular
Cinque Terre (Five Lands) in 58 minutes

In the spring and summer a water bus will also be operating, connecting Nervi via sea to San Fruttuoso and the Abbazia dei Principi D’Oria (Abbey of the Doria princes).

Nervi, the beginning of the Eastern Riviera is characterised by the colorful houses perched on the mountain side and the typical terraced landscape peppered with olive trees, gardens and the greenhouses of the locals.

The lush Mediterranean vegetation surrounds, and an uninterrupted series of trekking routes through and around the terraced walls beckons hikers to explore.

On Nervi’s hills, the landscape has been preserved throughout the centuries: small peasants’ houses, cultivated terraces, old blossoming greenhouses built on the steep slope of the hills.

This area is most certainly “off the beaten path” of most tourists and offers a rare view of natural and historical scenery, of not just villas and gardens, but also lakes, chestnut groves and horses.
